Rosicrucian Order

Ballard has a number of fraternal organizations, including its own Rosicrucian lodge. It's a strange building just north of downtown. No windows, low to the ground--it looks like a bunker. Hmmm. What sort of things go on there? It always makes me think of the Stonecutters' Song from the Simpsons.

The Stonecutter's Song

Who controls the British Crown?
Who keeps the metric system down?
We do. We do.
Who keeps Atlantis off the maps?
Who keeps Martians under wraps?
We do. We do.
Who holds back the electric car?
Who made Steve Guttenberg a star?
We do. We do.
Who robs cavefish of their sight?
Who rigs every Oscar night?
We do.
WE DO!

Friday Cat Blogging: Entity On The Sidewalk

Big deal, you say. What's so special about a cat on the sidewalk? Aside from the fact this is no ordinary cat (look at those six-toe paws), Entity is all too often found lolling about in the street. She likes it out there. Go figure. Folks, please drive carefully on 71st Street.

Where's My Camera?

Ain't it the way it always is. The day I don't have my camera is the day two bald eagles are soaring above Carter Volkswagen down on Leary Avenue. You have to figure they were making lazy circles in the sky pretty much for the fun of it, because they weren't going to find any rotting fish carcasses or slow-witted (and slow-footed) rodents amongst the new Jettas in the lot.

Peugeot Sign

You know, they weren't bad cars, but the French auto industry never did too much in America. There was always something about the cars that Americans found weird and they couldn't pronounce the names. It's "Poo-zho," not "Pee-you-gee-ot."

The Chevy dealer on 15th Avenue sold Peugeots back in the '80s but never got around to taking down the sign. I was walking by there today and took this picture. As I got nearer, I saw a couple guys from a sign company getting ready to go to work. It seems there's a Nissan dealer moving into the space. Nissan goes up and at long last, Peugeot comes down. I thought about asking them for the sign but how would I get it home?

But wouldn't it look good glowing softly in the backyard?

Black Cat

You should always start a new b*** with a picture of a cat.
